Scientific and Technical Center “Ecological technologies and energy saving” of NTUU “KPI” created by the decision of the Academic Board of NTUU “KPI” on the 6th of February 2004 (protocol # 2) and approved by the Rector order № 2-29 since 15.03.2004.

The purpose of the STC “ECOTES”

The purpose of the STC “ECOTES” (Center) is an integration of the scientific and technical potential of the departments of the university, which aim is to solve pressing problems of the Ukrainian power industry. The salvation should be associated with rising energy and ecological security of energy facilities and energy saving systems, introductioning of environmentally friendly and energy efficient technologies, training and retraining of technical staff in this direction.

Main activities of the Center

  • performance of research and development work on state enterprises and enterprises of other ownership on the priority areas of science and technology connected with the preparation of specialists;
  • implementation of R&D in the energetics and other industries with regard to the needs of internal and external market;
  • supervision of the implementation and usage of scientific and technological developments;
  • organizing and implementation of the training courses and advanced trainings in various areas;
  • organization of the laboratory, practical and other classes with students of various faculties and institutes of the university;
  • training and retraining of scientific, educational and engineering personnel with high qualification;
  • international cooperation within the framework of direct contacts and individual contacts with foreign partners;
  • participation in international grants and contracts;
  • implementation of promotional activities for the questions of the development, production and realization of cooperation on domestic and international markets;
  • organization of seminars, conferences, courses in the sphere of scientific and research work in the field of environmental safety processes, energy systems and energy-saving technologies;
  • implementation of copyright and scientific support of their own developments in production and implementation of power generation equipment, both on campus and beyond;
  • energy environmental audit of energy facilities;
  • development of documents that justify the emissions for businesses, institutions, organizations and businesses.
  • STC “EKOTES” performs research and development, provides the conditions for advanced scientific and technical training according to the priority areas of science and technics, that are included in state programs and university research programs.

The main tasks of the STC “ECOTES”

The main tasks of the STC “ECOTES” are conducting research on priority areas of science and technology connected with the preparation of specialists. In planning of its research and implementation of the STC relies on:

  • main directions of scientific and technological progress, defined by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Ukraine Ministry of fuel and energy and other public institutions;
  • government, industry and university research and technical programs;
  • current problems of engineering practice, determined independently or by customers;
  • results of previous research and work.

Preparing of scientific and pedagogical staff

Center can prepare scientific and pedagogical staff of the higher qualification, retraining of scientific and educational staff on training courses for scientific and academic teaching staff, postgraduate training and retraining of technical staff.
For training and retraining of scientific, educational and technical staff training center uses modern methods and techniques, including distance learning.

Main developments and main activity center

Through its own development and on the basis of application of advanced high technology Center provides:

  1. Increasing of energy and environmental efficiency of cogeneration installations (GTI, boilers, process furnaces, drying units) at the expense of their own conception of tubular gaseous fuel combustion technology:
    • increase efficiency on 3 – 5%;
    • reduction in 3 – 5 times the emissions of nitrogen oxides and carbon;
    • extension of poisonous plants.
  2. Development, manufacturing and installation of heating plants offline, based on modern energy technologies:?
    • heat pumps;
    • heliosystemy of solar collectors;
    • solar;
    • contact heat generators;
    • saving energy pellicle;
    • combined Heating System.
  3. Conducting energy and environmental examination, certification and development of monitoring systems of exploitation of cogeneration facilities and installations (TPS, district boiler, industrial furnace, etc.).
  4. Design, installation and commissioning of automated systems of control operating parameters of cogeneration facilities and systems (thermoelectric power stations, LCD, industrial enterprises).
  5. Implementation of energy and environmental audit and management of generating equipment operation for supply industry.
  6. Development of licensed documents that justify the emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere for businesses and organizations.
  7. Expert assessment, energy and environmental analysis, development of activities and upgrading burner systems of combustion chambers GTU (GTU including within the GPA) and boilers of different manufacture (including import).
